Financial Planning and Analysis Manager

Job Description

The Financial Planning & Analysis Manager will be responsible for providing senior management and executives with the analysis and information they need to make major operational, financial, and strategic decisions.  The person will be responsible for running the annual budgeting process, as well as for managing cash flow forecast models, variance analysis, and other financial performance tools. 

The Financial Planning & Analysis Manager will also liaise with management to discuss cash flows and expenditures and evaluate on acquisition opportunities.  The successful candidate will provide financial consulting and strategic support to senior management including preparing board presentations, financial presentations, capital expenditure analysis, industry/peer group comparisons, new business opportunities, acquisition analysis and other projects requested by senior management. This function acts as the analytical engine of the company to provide insights and support ‘optimal’ business decision making.

 

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Performs financial forecasting, reporting, and operational metrics tracking
  • Analyze current and past trends in key performance indicators including all areas of revenue, cost of sales, expenses and capital expenditures
  • Monitor performance indicators, highlighting trends and analyzing causes of unexpected variance
  • Analyze financial data and create financial models for decision support
  • Report on financial performance and prepare for regular leadership reviews
  • Analyze past results, perform variance analysis, identify trends, and make recommendations for improvements
  • Performs quantitative analysis of operational and financial data
  • Builds and manages financial databases by organizing and analyzing a wide range of data sources
  • Prepares financial reports for internal use at the company by collecting, analyzing, formatting, and presenting information
  • Evaluates new projects and investment opportunities by comparing them with each other
  • Values the company’s assets by appraising their current condition and useful life
  • Recommends financing structures (debt and equity) and considers the company’s cost of capital
  • Builds budgets and forecasts of future company performance
  • Builds and maintains financial models that details the company’s strategic operations and projects future performance
  • Performs ad hoc analysis for executives as required

 

Required Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business or related field
  • Three or more years of relevant experience
  • Ability to streamline functions and passion to learn and grow
  • Strong leadership skills;  ability to collaborate with diverse groups 
  • Ability to think creatively, highly-driven and self-motivated
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including written and oral communication skills
  • Comfort dealing with ambiguity and the ability to work independently
  • Experience working with, and presenting to, senior executives
  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills; comfortable interacting with executive-level management
  • Strong financial modeling experience and excellent attention to detail

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting or related field
  • Four or more years of relevant experience
  • CPA, CFA or similar professional certification
  • Relevant experience in banking industry

General Working Hours and Conditions

Core business hours are generally 8:00 am – 5:00 pm.  However this position will require work to be performed outside of normal business hours based on Company operations.
